A conference on energy conservation, carbon reduction and circulatar economy was jointly held by the China National Coal Association, China Coal Processing and Utilization Association, and Datong Coal Mine Group at the Datong Coal Mine Group in north China's Shanxi Province from July 7 to 9, 2010.

Representatives from the Datong Coal Mine Group, Shenhua Group and Huainan Mining Group delivered keynote speeches respectively at the conference. Also, more than 30 enterprises distributed written speeches to the participants.

Wu Yongping, vice president of the China National Coal Association and chairman of Datong Coal Mine Group, delivered a keynote speech themed "black coal, green mining, circular economy and low carbon technology: a sustainable development path for the resource-based enterprises"

Jiang Zhimin, vice president and secretary general of the China National Coal Association, explained about the "guidance for pushing the coal mine industry to develop a circular economy and promote energy conservation and carbon reduction" (draft). Fang Junshi, director of the coal mine department of China National Energy Bureau, also addressed the conference. Wang Xianzheng, president of the China National Coal Association, made concluding remarks.

The conference reached six consensuses, including that developing a circular economy is an inevitable choice for the coal industry to construct resource-saving, environment-friendly coal mines and set a coal mine industry system, and that developing a circular economy must establish strict management principles and standards.

Before the conference, participants visited the Tashan Coal Mine, Tashan Power Plant, Jinyu Kaolin Chemical Co., Ltd. and Tongta Building Materials Co., Ltd. in the Tashan Circular Economy Park of the Datong Coal Mine Group to learn on the spot about the park's planning and construction.
