The 6th China-Japan Forum on Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection was held in Beijing on Nov. 26, 2011. Zhang Youxi, president of the Datong Coal Mine Group, attended the opening ceremony and gave a keynote speech at a sub-forum on energy.

The event consists of a main forum and several sub-forums, with the former hearing speeches by government leaders from both China and Japan and the latter entering discussions by delegates on green architecture, circular economy and long-term bilateral trade.

Zhang Youxi gave a keynote speech "To Achieve Cyclic Development of Coal Industry Through Scientific Integration and Full Use of Resources" during the sub-forum on energy. He said, based on the Tashan Coal Mine, the Datong Coal Mine Group has built up the Tashan Circular Economic Park, the first of its kind with a most complete industrial chain in China, in order to explore new paths and formulate new standard for the coal industry.

Zhang summed up the group's experience in exploring a circular development model, that is, to establish a brand-new conception of resources, to build an industrial chain of scientific integration and full circulation, to gain technology-supported core competitiveness, to realize full conversion and utilization of resources, and to acquire both social and economic benefits.

Zhang said the Datong Coal Mine Group will, in the spirit of scientific development, strengthen exchanges and cooperation with companies both at home and abroad and expand the scope for circular economic development. It will also cultivate new concepts and new technologies and bring in new changes and new developments, so as to make itself a group of international standing.
